A Nursing Showcase and Career Day are planned for Oct. 14 at Southeast Missouri State University’s River Campus. Registration is scheduled for 8-8:30 a.m. with the conference to follow from 8:30 a.m.-2 p.m. The Student Nurse Career Day will provide student nurses the opportunity to network and visit with employers from across the region. The day will include four featured presentations:
- “Celebrating and Surviving Nursing School and Employment,” a humorous look at nursing school and how it affects all aspects of your life, presented by Easy Stilson, R.N., B.S.N., director of Recruitment and Retention, Bolder: Prospective Payment Specialists.
- Network, Network and More Networking. Students are invited to visit exhibitor from St. Louis and from across the region.
- NCLEX Nursing Trivia, “Let The Games Begin” team competition, presented by Hurst Review Services of Brookhaven, Mississippi, prizes and more. This will be a fun two hours of NCLEX nursing trivia full of questions, test-taking strategies and review questions with rationales.
- “The National Opioid Crisis, Prescription Drug Monitoring Program, Marijuana and More: Your Practice, Your Responsibility,” panel discussion including Missouri Rep. Tila Hubrecht, RN, 151st District; Missouri Rep. Holly Rehder, 148th District; and Dr. Desma Reno, Ph.D., APRN, GCNS-BC, Southeast Missouri State University. This session is geared to providing future nurses with a better understanding about the nurses’ role in combating opioid use disorder, prescription drug monitoring program, marijuana and more.
Noon-1:30 p.m. Lunch and Learn
