Ostrenga Receives IAAP President’s Recognition Award

Barbara Ostrenga, administrative assistant for the MBA and International Business Programs office at Southeast , recently received the President’s Recognition Award for service at the Missouri Division of the International Association of Administrative Professionals (IAAP) annual meeting.

CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo., June 9, 2009 — Barbara Ostrenga, administrative assistant for the MBA and International Business Programs office at Southeast Missouri State University, was honored June 6 by the Missouri Division of the International Association of Administrative Professionals (IAAP).

Ostrenga, a certified professional secretary (CPS) and Certified Administrative Professional (CAP), received the President’s Recognition Award for service at the association’s annual meeting in St. Joseph, Mo.  The award is given annually to one outstanding member of the state division.  Ostrenga was chosen “in recognition of her outstanding service…by inspiring and equipping administrative professionals in the community and workplace.”

“I am truly honored and humbled by this, knowing the caliber of professionals in this association,” Ostrenga said.  There are almost 800 members in Missouri Division of IAAP.

In addition to this award, Ostrenga was nominated by her chapter members for the Award for Excellence. Girardot Chapter also received an award for a chapter with more than 50 members with the most certified members (63 percent). The chapter also was recognized as being one of two chapters that were “Rock Steady,” never falling below original, annual membership numbers, and increasing their membership.
