CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo., Oct. 10, 2011 – The Southeast Missouri State University Percussion Ensemble, under the direction of Dr. Shane Mizicko, will present its annual fall concert on Oct. 25 at 7:30 p.m. in the Donald C. Bedell Performance Hall at Southeast’s River Campus.
During the first half of this percussion extravaganza, traditional drum works will be performed, including Thom Hasepflug’s “Bicksa” for percussion quartet and Bob Becker’s “Palta” for solo drum set and percussion ensemble. Classic percussion ensemble repertoire such as David Gillingham’s “Stained Glass” and Paul Creston’s “Ceremonial” will also be performed.
The second half of the concert will feature the 30-member drum line and front ensemble of the Golden Eagles Marching Band performing portions of their 2011 season repertoire as well as a combined performance with the percussion ensemble in an arrangement of Ludwig van Beethoven’s “5th Symphony, Movement I.” The percussion ensemble will also perform on March 22.
