Percussion Ensemble to Present Eclectic Concert Feb. 27

The Southeast Missouri State University Department of Music is holding a concert featuring the Percussion Ensemble Feb. 27.

CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo., Feb. 22, 2007 — The Southeast Missouri State University Department of Music is holding a concert featuring the Percussion Ensemble at 7:30 p.m. Feb. 27 in Academic Auditorium.

Music on the program will range in style from what most people consider traditional drum music, with pieces such as “Milo’s March” for snare, field drum and cymbals by Elliot Fine, to Baroque-era pieces like “Aria and Burlesca” by Domenico Scarlatti, arranged for marimba quintet, to Latin-inspired pieces, such as “Sweet Rio” by Arthur Lipner, arranged for a large ensemble of percussionists.

Tickets are available in advance through the Performing Arts Box Office by calling (573) 651-2265 or at the door the night of the show.  Student and senior discounts are available for advance sales only, and all seats will be the general public price of $7 at the door.
