The Southeast Missouri Department of Athletics hosted its 33rd Annual Kohlfeld Distributing Charlie Brune Classic at the Cape Girardeau Country Club on May 2. Thirty-eight teams comprised of 152 golfers enjoyed the afternoon. Redhawk student-athletes, coaches and administrators were on hand throughout the day. Terri Penrod sponsored lunch for all in attendance while El Sol Mexican Restaurant, Wings Etc., Robinson Construction and Schnucks provided special food and beverage stations throughout the course. Ross Furniture sponsored a raffle, while Van Matre contributed hole-in-one prizes. Isle Casino Cape Girardeau sponsored closest to the pin contests and a $1 million shootout to close the day. Chris Auffenburg Kia sponsored longest drive contests for men, women and seniors. The team of Brevin Giebler, Sonny Underwood, Jim Stovall and Al Kesterson won the A flight with a score of 51 (19 under par). Their double-eagle on the par-5 fourth was the only skin of the day. The team of Mike Buck, Jennie Buck, Rex Meyr and Torry Meyr won the B flight with a score of 64 (six under par). All proceeds from the annual golf outing goes towards Southeast athletic scholarships.
