Help wish the Southeast Missouri baseball team good luck during a special send-off Wednesday, June 1. The team will be departing in front of Houck Stadium at 2:30 p.m. and the public is invited to be there at approximately 2:15 p.m.
Southeast Missouri is headed to the NCAA Regional in Starkville, Mississippi.
Southeast, which makes its third NCAA Tournament appearance in 2016, will join host Mississippi State, Cal State Fullerton and Louisiana Tech. The Redhawks face Mississippi State at 1:30 p.m. CT Friday.
The 64-team bracket includes 16 regional sites featuring a double-elimination format. Each four-team NCAA Regional will run from June 3-5.
The Redhawks secured an automatic berth to this year’s tournament when it won three-straight games en route to claiming the Ohio Valley Conference Tournament title. Southeast beat Jacksonville State, 10-7, 14-8, to win the crown in Jackson, Tennessee Sunday.
Southeast is 39-19 overall this season. The Redhawks established new school records for wins in a season and wins in the Championship round of the OVC Tournament.
The Redhawks last made the NCAA Tournament in 2002. Southeast defeated the University of Alabama in the opening round of the Tuscaloosa Regional on May 31. Southeast’s other NCAA Regional was in 1998.
