Redhawks Merchandise Launch Planned for Dec. 8

CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo.,

Nov. 10, 2004 – Southeast Missouri State University will launch its new Redhawks merchandise as it begins the transition of adopting its new school nickname with a special event planned for Dec. 8.

A fashion show is scheduled for noon during the Common Hour in the University Center third floor. Southeast cheerleaders will model new clothing and merchandise to be sold in Southeast Bookstore with the University’s new Redhawks logo. Candygrams and other giveaways will be distributed.

Also participating in the event will be the Southeast Jazz Band, which will be accompanied by Santa Claus. Bobbi Ann Mason of Mississippi River Radio will serve as the master of ceremonies.

At the conclusion of the event, new Redhawks merchandise will be sold in Southeast Bookstore and the University Center Program Lounge.

Jan Chisman, manager of Southeast Bookstore, said those who make a minimum $50 purchase of Southeast clothing at the bookstore Nov. 10-20 will receive a coupon for a 10 percent discount off the store’s new Redhawks clothing which may be redeemed Dec. 8-11. The new Redhawks merchandise also will be sold online athttp://www2.semo.edu/bookstore beginning Dec. 8.

Southeast Bookstore will be open extended hours Dec. 8-11 and Dec. 18. The store’s hours will be 7:30 a.m. to 8 p.m. Dec. 8-9; 7:30 a.m.-6 p.m. Dec. 10; and 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Dec. 11 and 18

The University retired its Native American “Indians” and “Otahkians” nicknames at an Oct. 22 ceremony on campus. Southeast will officially begin using the nickname “Redhawks” and will introduce its new Redhawks mascot Jan. 22 in conjunction with Southeast men’s and women’s basketball games.
