Regents Grant Post-Professorial Merit, Faculty Promotions

CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo.,

May 25, 2005 –  The Southeast Missouri State University Board of Regents granted post-professorial merit to three faculty members during closed session meeting of the Board today.

The post-professorial increment is a voluntary additional step in the current promotion process approved by the Board of Regents in October 2002. Under the bill, faculty become eligible to apply for post-professorial merit five years after attaining the rank of full professor and every five years thereafter. Successful applicants meet the same criteria as that required for promotion to professor and follow the same process of peer and administrative review.

Those granted Post-Professorial merit, effective with the 2005-2006 academic year, are:

  • Tamara Baldwin, Department of Communication
  • Sharon Coleman, Department of Chemistry
  • Kathryn Kornegay, Department of Nursing

The Board also approved non-tenure track merit for:

  • Kathleen Brown, Department of Human Environmental Studies
  • Martha Cook, Department of Communication Disorders
  • Sara Garner, Department of Human Environmental Studies
  • Linda Gosche, Department of Human Environmental Studies
  • Deborah Landgraf, Department of Human Environmental Studies
  • Linda Tansil, Department of Mathematics

In related action, the Board granted promotions to 22 faculty members during the same closed session meeting. Faculty members promoted were reviewed by appropriate review bodies on campus. Faculty members promoted to the rank of professor, effective with the 2005-2006 academic year, are:

  • Joe Pujol, Department of Health, Human Performance and Recreation

  • Susan Swartwout, Department of English
