Regents Meeting Scheduled for April 23

CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo.,

April 22, 2004 – The Southeast Missouri State University Board of Regents will consider approving a schedule of major capital projects and maintenance and repair items for fiscal 2005 when the Board meets April 23.

The meeting is scheduled for 10 a.m. in the University Center Ballroom.

The Regents will consider approving a maintenance and repair schedule for fiscal 2005 that includes $190,000 for roofs and $310,000 for general repairs. These projects would be funded from the recent release of fiscal 2004 state withholdings, assuming that fiscal 2005 appropriations are not withheld. These projects would be scheduled after Oct. 1, so state revenues could be assessed.

The Regents also will consider approving the appointment of Dr. Gary Miller, chair of the Department of Music, as a University representative to serve the remainder of Dr. Pauline Fox’s three-year term on the River Campus Board of Managers. Miller’s term would expire Dec. 1, 2006.

The Board will consider conferring degrees for spring 2004 commencement, approving resolutions of honor for faculty and staff retirees, and separating operating procedures from policy concerning leaves in the Business Policy and Procedures Manual.

In other business, the Regents will discuss higher education appropriations for fiscal 2005 and will hear a report from the president. The President’s Report will include an update from the Mascot Committee; a report from the Student Government president; the presentation of Experience 2003, the Southeast Missouri University Foundation Annual Report; and a progress report on contracts and Facilities Management projects.

The Board will consider a motion to go into a closed session for appropriate considerations. When the open session reconvenes, the final item of business will be consideration of a motion to adjourn.
