Regents to Host Strategic Planning Forum Feb. 18

Board to Set 2008-2009 Room and Board Rates

CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo.,

Feb. 15, 2008 – A strategic planning open forum will be the focus of a meeting of the Southeast Missouri State University Board of Regents scheduled for Feb. 18 on the University campus.

The Board of Regents meeting will begin at 8 a.m. in the University Center Missouriana Room. The Regents will then recess to convene the strategic planning forum in the University Center Ballroom. The forum will set the stage for a process to span the course of several months, during which the University community along with a representative sample of individuals from surrounding communities, will be engaged in comprehensive strategic planning that will determine what Southeast will look like in the year 2013 and what goals need to be accomplished over the next five years. The meeting of the Board of Regents will reconvene at 3:30 p.m. in the University Center Missouriana Room. At that time, the Regents will consider a motion to approve room and board rates for the 2008-2009 academic year.

Also on the agenda will be consideration of an amendment to the original charter for the Lift for Life Academy, a St. Louis charter school. The Academy proposes to add grades 9 through 12 to its present grades 6 to 8 structure over the next four years. The Regents also will consider a schedule of major capital projects and maintenance and repair items for fiscal 2009, and system projects to be funded through bond proceeds.

The final item of business will be consideration of a motion to go into a closed session for appropriate considerations. When the open session reconvenes, the final item of business will be consideration of a motion to adjourn.
