Registration for 2013-2014 Parking Permits Opens July 8

CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo., July 1, 2013 — Southeast Missouri State University students may begin registering for 2013-2014 parking permits beginning July 8.

Registration for 2013-2014 parking permits will open at 8 a.m. July 8. At that time, students may apply online at http://portal.semo.edu, or they may complete a paper application that is included in the University’s billing packet. The packet will be mailed to students in early July. Students should apply using only one method. Completed paper applications will be accepted by mail or in person at the Cashier’s Office in Memorial Hall. Registration for all parking permits will close at 4 p.m. July 26. Online registration for perimeter, evening only and employee permits will re-open at 8 a.m. July 29.

Students who apply for preferred parking permits must apply by 4 p.m., July 26. Additionally, they also must pay their account balance by 4 p.m. on July 26. Students must ensure that balances are either paid in full, covered by guaranteed financial aid or be enrolled in and make the first payment toward their Installment Payment Plan (IPP) for the fall 2013 semester. Payment may be made by mail; online; or in person at the Cashier’s Office. The preferred permit lottery will be conducted Aug. 12, during which the preferred decals will be assigned. Because distribution of the preferred decals is assigned using a lottery, the time at which a student applies does not affect the chances of being selected for preferred parking, but it is important to apply and make appropriate payment before the lottery closes July 26.

Preferred parking decals will be assigned based on these parameters:

• 55 percent will be distributed to students with 90 or more hours. • 30 percent will go to students with 60 to 89 hours. • 15 percent will be distributed to students with 30 to 59 hours.

Students applying for preferred permits who are not drawn in the lottery can be placed on a waiting list only after accepting a perimeter parking permit. Students will be placed on the waiting list for their first choice lot based upon cumulative hours. Students on the waiting list will receive a perimeter decal and become eligible for preferred parking from the waiting list as space becomes available.

Students who wish to purchase a car pool permit should contact Parking Services to arrange for carpool permits. Each member of the car pool must be present at the time of application. Carpool applicants need not apply for the preferred parking lottery or for perimeter parking.

Commuter decals will be mailed Aug. 16. Resident students can pick up their decals at Parking Services, 1401 N. Sprigg Street in front of the Show Me Center, when they return to campus for the fall semester. Students participating in Residence Hall move-in on Thursday, Aug. 22, can pick up their permits at the Student Recreation Center–North. After Aug. 22, all permits can be picked up at Parking Services, 1401 N. Sprigg Street.

Parking fees for the 2013-2014 year are: • $155 for preferred decals. • $135 for River Campus preferred decals • $105 for perimeter decals. • $55 for evening only decals, which are valid only after 1:30 p.m. • $25 for River Campus Upgrade, students with a decal for the main campus may park in the River Campus preferred lot in addition to the main campus. • $220 for car pool permits. • $50 for Motorcycle or Scooter without the purchase of a motor vehicle permit. • $25 for Motorcycle or Scooter with the purchase of a motor vehicle permit.
