CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo.,
Aug. 29, 2008 – The Southeast Missouri State University Department of Music is proud to present Faculty Showcase Series performances in September. These performances will feature outstanding University educators who have performed both nationally and abroad.
All performances will be held in the Robert F. and Gertrude L. Shuck Music Recital Hall in the Seminary Building on Southeast Missouri State University’s River Campus.
Michael Dean, clarinet, 7:30 p.m. Sept. 16
Dean will present a concert featuring pieces he will be performing on his tour in England that begins in October. During his tour, he will be performing and hosting Master Classes at various universities.
This program includes: “Suite” by Alec Wilder, “Terpsichore” and “Andy and Me” by Robert Fruehwald, “September” by Jeffrey Hoover, and “Half Moon at Checkerboard Mesa” by Phillip Bimstein. Three of the pieces are to be included on Dean’s new CD, available in September.
“I’m very thankful to my administrators Chris Goeke and Gary Miller for supporting me on my tour of England,” Dean said.
Southeast Baroque Ensemble, 7:30 p.m. Sept. 25
The Southeast Baroque Ensemble comprises Southeast faculty members Paul Thompson, Baroque flute, Brandon Christensen, Baroque violin, Sara Edgerton, Baroque cello, Jeff Noonan, theorbo and Gary Miller, harpsichord.
This concert will include music by such Baroque master composers as Vivaldi, Telemann and Quantz, and will feature these historical instruments in both solo and larger ensemble settings.
