CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo., Feb. 21, 2007 — Robert Conger will present a faculty trombone recital at 7:30 p.m. March 29, in Old Saint Vincent’s Church in downtown Cape Girardeau.
The program will feature original works for trombone including the “Concerto for Eb Alto Trombone” by Georg Christoph Wagenseil. This work is written for the alto trombone which is the smallest instrument in the trombone family. Also on the program will be the “Concerto for T-Bone” by Johan DeMeij which is a very tuneful work written for the Danish trombonist Christian Lindberg. In addition, the program will include “Trombonology,” a musical tribute to Tommy Dorsey and the often performed “Czardas” by Vittorio Monti.
Joining Conger on the program in the Herbert L. Clarke work for trombone and trumpet, “Cousins,” will be Marc Fulgham, professor of trumpet at Southeast. Accompanying Conger will be Matt Yount, one of the two piano faculty members at Southeast Missouri State University.
Conger is a member of the Southeast Department of Music faculty who teaches all low brass applied music lessons, directs the jazz program and the University Concert Band, teaches courses in conducting and music education, and is a member of the Southeast Faculty Brass Quintet.
