Salon des Refusés Showcases Student Artwork Alongside Annual Juried Student Exhibition

“Salon des Refusés” will continue for another season at Southeast Missouri State University’s River Campus Art Gallery.

The exhibition will be on display from April 3-13 with a reception from 5-7 p.m. on April 7.

Running concurrently with the Annual Juried Student Exhibition displayed in the Rosemary Berkel and Harry L. Crisp II Museum, this exhibition features additional work created by Southeast art students in ceramics, digital art, drawing, fibers, graphic design, illustration, painting, printmaking, sculpture and foundation courses. There are typically 25-30 pieces of artwork.

“Students are allowed to enter one piece that was not chosen by the juror for the Annual Juried Student Exhibition,” said Justin Henry Miller, assistant professor and exhibitions coordinator. “This is an excellent opportunity to still have work displayed, build their resumes, and in many instances, sell their artwork.”

The River Campus Art Gallery is located on the first floor of the historic Seminary Building in Room 106.

River Campus Art Gallery hours are 1-5 p.m. Monday through Friday and 1-7 p.m. on First Fridays. All gallery exhibitions, events and talks are free and open to the public. For more information, contact Gallery Coordinator Justin Miller at rcgallerycoordinator@semo.edu or (573) 651-2865.
