CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo.,
March 9, 2006 – The School of Polytechnic Studies at Southeast Missouri State University will host an open house from 2 to 3:30 p.m. April 1 in the Otto and Della Seabaugh Polytechnic Building on the Southeast campus.
The event coincides with Show Me Day at Southeast for prospective students. Prospective students are invited to meet current students, faculty and staff in both the Department of Agriculture and Department of Industrial and Engineering Technology to learn about the programs available.
Faculty and staff will be giving tours to students interested in those fields. Students with an interest in industrial and engineering technology will have the opportunity to view the graphics labs, manufacturing lab, robotics lab, computer networking lab and material testing lab. Those students interested in agriculture will be able to visit the new Charles L. Hutson Greenhouse, located at the corner of Old Sprigg and Bertling streets.
“The open house gives students a first-hand look at what both the Department of Agriculture and the Department of Industrial and Engineering Technology have to offer,” said Kim Madigan, coordinator of special programs and services in the School of Polytechnic Studies. “We hope that those who are interested in the program will come away from the open house with a better understanding of the field they are entering.”
Southeast’s Department of Agriculture offers a bachelor of science degree in agribusiness, with options in agriculture industry, animal science, horticulture, and plant and soil science, and pre-professional degrees in both pre-veterinary medicine and pre-vocational agriculture education.
The Department of Industrial and Engineering Technology offers a master of science degree in industrial management, along with bachelor of science degrees in engineering technology, industrial technology and industrial education, with several options from which to choose in each discipline. An associate of applied science is also offered in computer technology, as well as a pre-professional degree in pre-architecture.
