CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo., Sept. 19, 2008 — If you are planning a trip or a honeymoon and always wanted to learn how to scuba dive, Recreation Services at Southeast Missouri State University has just the answer.
The course consists of alternating classroom work and in-water scuba equipment work. Students will achieve open-water dives and will be issued a certification card upon satisfactory completion of the class.
The course is being offered in Session I at 8 a.m. on Sept. 27-28. Registration deadline for the first session is Sept. 26. Session II will be offered at 8 a.m. Oct. 11-12. The registration deadline for the second session is Oct. 10.
Students will need some personal scuba equipment such as a mask, fins, snorkel and booties. The cost is $300 for students, $325 for Student Recreation Center members and $350 for non-Student Recreation Center members. The price includes a crew pack, academics, pool and open water dives. Registration is available at the Student Recreation Center–North main office, which is open from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday-Friday.
