Sculptor Tom Stancliffe Speaking on Public Sculpture at Catapult

Stancliffe_AxiomTom Stancliffe, professor of sculpture at the University of Northern Iowa, will visit Southeast Missouri State University’s Catapult Creative House March 2 to speak on “Public Sculpture: Collaborations Across Communities.”

Stancliffe’s visit is scheduled for 7-8:30 p.m. at 612 Broadway in downtown Cape Girardeau.

Stancliffe will speak about his experience in public art.  He has been instrumental in public art endeavors, initiating reputable outdoor sculpture exhibitions, large-scale commissions and innumerable student opportunities. Stancliffe also created the Public Art Incubator at the University of Northern Iowa, giving art students the invaluable, hands-on experience of working alongside professional artists in the creation of large-scale sculpture.

He earned a Bachelor of Science from Illinois State University and a Master of Fine Arts from Northern Illinois University.

The presentation is open to the public and is hosted by the Catapult Gallery.
