CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo., May 7, 2012 — Using social media as an effective tool in a business marketing communication strategy is the focus of an upcoming workshop to be offered via Interactive Television (ITV) in Cape Girardeau, Kennett, Malden, Perryville, Poplar Bluff and Sikeston, Mo.
The Social Media Strategies workshop will be hosted at the Douglas C. Greene Center for Innovation and Entrepreneurship (CIE) on the campus of Southeast Missouri State University on Tuesday, May 22 from 2 to 3:30 p.m. and will be broadcast via ITV to the other five locations. Due to grant funding, there is no charge to participate, however pre-registration is required.
Elizabeth Shelton, owner of Write Results Marketing, will be the guest presenter for the Social Media Strategies workshop. Marketing communications has been Shelton’s field for more than 20 years. She will offer valuable information on current strategies to incorporate social media into a successful business marketing program. Topics covered will include use of Twitter, Facebook, YouTube, blogs, LinkedIn and Pinterest, along with the pros and cons of each method.
“I think everyone realizes social media as a networking tool is here to stay. Most businesses want to use it to foster relationships with their customers, but many do not understand the best practices and the pros and cons of the many different options,” Shelton said. “This class will review several of the more popular social media platforms and give business owners a better understanding of which platforms are better for reaching their unique customers. Participants will leave with very clear instructions and examples of how to incorporate social media as a public relations tool into an effective marketing strategy.”
Please visit www.semo.edu/cie/training to register for training and view the list of ITV locations available near you, or contact Glenna Ervin at firstname.lastname@example.org or (573) 651-2929. Registration is required by May 18. Space is limited so register today.
