CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo., Feb. 11, 2005 — Southeast Missouri State University’s Department of Music will present a free organ recital Feb. 24 featuring Jackson native Ryan Kasten.
The concert, which is free and open to the public, is scheduled for 8 p.m. in First Presbyterian Church in Cape Girardeau.
The program will include works by Claude Balbastra, J.S. Bach, Robert Schumann, Louis Vierne, Willam Albright and Alberto Ginastera.
An alumnus of Southeast Missouri State University and former student of Dr. Gary Miller, Kasten holds a bachelor of music degree in organ performance. He received a master of music degree from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln. He also has completed post-graduate studies on conducting at Northern Illinois University. He is the director of music ministries/organist at St. Andrew Covenant Presbyterian Church in Wilmington, N.C. He also is artistic director/conductor of the Bach Chamber Orchestra of Wilmington and the Wilmington Children’s Chorus.
