CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo., Feb. 26, 2016 — The Catapult Creative House Student Studios will hold their spring exhibition titled “Notre Quatriéme Meilleuron” on Friday, March 4, at 612 Broadway in downtown Cape Girardeau.
The exhibition will feature the work of 11 Southeast Missouri State University Department of Art student artists and will open the First Friday in March. The exhibition will present a body of diverse work that ranges in subject and medium — from the sculpture of Brigit Ciskowski that combines metal fabrication and fibers to the deceptively delicate prints created by Heather Gillock.
The exhibition reception is scheduled for 5-9 p.m. March 4 and is located on the second floor of Catapult Creative House.
As part of a program to promote community-based and integrated art making, each of these artists has been awarded studio space at Catapult Creative House. The exhibition will showcase a range of work from the individual artists that highlights their personal and professional artistic explorations as a part of the Southeast Missouri art community. These artists explore the physicality of the human condition, its relationship to nature, and the role of art in contemporary society. In addition to the exhibition, attendees are welcome to tour the studio spaces, view ongoing projects, and engage with the artists.
In connection with the exhibition reception, the Catapult Creative House Student Studio artists are proud to present their Spring Studio Pop-Up Shop. This Pop-Up retail space will present the opportunity for visitors to purchase one- of-a-kind prints, whimsical cards, ceramics and additional unique works of art created by the participating artists.
