CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo.,
Dec. 9, 2010 – The Southeast Missouri State University Bass Angler Club will be featured on national television Dec. 12 in the National Guard FLW College Fishing Southeast Regional Championship.
The championship will be broadcast at noon on the Versus channel (Channel 45 on local cable).
The team of Andrew Pinkley of Malden, Mo., and Jim McDevitt of Eldon, Mo., placed eighth and will be shown on days one and two of the competition. The tournament was hosted by Indiana University Nov. 4-6 on Lake Monroe in Sanford, Fla.
National Guard FLW College Fishing is a national competitive bass-fishing program open to all full-time students at four-year colleges and universities. It consists of 20 qualifying events, five regional championships and a national championship.
The Southeast Regional Championship field competed in Florida for two days, with the top five college teams advancing to the final day of competition based on their overall accumulated weight. The top five teams from each of the four qualifying events in the regional tournaments advanced to the National Guard FLW College Fishing National Championship.
Pinkley and McDevitt represented Southeast based on their outstanding performance in the National Guard’s FLW College Fishing Central Division tournament held in March at Branson, Mo. The students finished fourth at the division tournament and were awarded $1,500 for the Bass Anglers Club and another $1,500 for the University.
