Southeast Bass Anglers Place in National Fishing Tournament

CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo.,

March 31, 2010 – Southeast Missouri State University students Andrew Pinkley and Jim McDevitt, both members of the Southeast Bass Anglers Club, recently won fourth place in the National Guard FLW College Fishing Central Division tournament held at Bull Shoals Lake in Branson, Mo.

Pinkley and McDevitt will advance to a three-day National Guard FLW College Fishing Regional Championship tournament later this spring. It will be televised nationally on Versus.

The students won $3,000 in prize money for their fourth place finish, half of which tournament organizers donate to their University. The remaining half goes to the Bass Anglers Club to be used at the club’s discretion.

McDevitt is a junior agribusiness major from Eldon, Mo., and Pinkley is a sophomore biomedical science major from Malden, Mo.

National Guard FLW College Fishing is a nationwide competitive bass-fishing program open to all full-time students at four-year colleges and universities. It consists of 20 qualifying events, five regional championships and a national championship.
