Southeast Chamber Music Institute Announces Two Free Public Recitals

Chamber Music InstituteCAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo., July 6, 2015 — The Southeast Chamber Music Institute at Southeast Missouri State University announces its fourth annual chamber music recitals to be presented at the River Campus  July 17 and 18.  The concerts are free and open to the public.

On Friday, July 17, Chamber Institute faculty will present a recital in the Robert F. and Gertrude L. Shuck Music Recital Hall.  This concert will include music by Brahms, Mendelssohn, Dvorak and Leoncavallo.  The concert is scheduled to begin at 7:30 p.m.

The Southeast Chamber Music Institute will then conclude its weeklong program of chamber music studies with a performance on Saturday, July 18, featuring student chamber music ensembles.  This concert will begin at 2 p.m., and will also be presented in the Robert F. and Gertrude L. Shuck Music Recital Hall on the River Campus.  A variety of works for woodwind and string chamber ensembles will be presented.  The concert also will include a performance by the Institute Chamber Orchestra.

The Southeast Chamber Music Institute provides an intensive and musically rewarding summer program for intermediate to advanced musicians, ranging in age from 12 to 21.  The faculty is drawn from the Department of Music at Southeast Missouri State University and also includes special guest artists.  The Institute Director is Paul Thompson.
