CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo., June 24, 2014 — The Southeast Chamber Music Institute at Southeast Missouri State University announces its third annual chamber music recitals, to be presented at the River Campus on July 14 and 19.
The concerts are free and open to the public.
On Monday, July 14, Chamber Institute faculty will present a recital in the Robert F. and Gertrude L. Shuck Music Recital Hall. This concert will include a premiere of a work by Robert Fruehwald. Also featured on the concert will be violin virtuoso, Liesl Schoenberger, performing a “Suite for Violin and Piano from Schindler’s List”by John Williams. Additional chamber music compositions for strings, woodwinds and piano will also be performed by the Chamber Music Institute faculty. The concert is scheduled to begin at 7:30 p.m.
The Southeast Chamber Music Institute will conclude its weeklong program of chamber music studies with a performance on Saturday, July 19, featuring student chamber music ensembles. This concert will begin at 2 p.m., and will also be presented in Shuck Recital Hall on the River Campus. A variety of works for woodwind and string chamber ensembles will be presented. The concert also will include a performance by the Southeast Chamber Orchestra.
Now in its third year, the Southeast Chamber Music Institute provides an intensive and musically rewarding summer program for intermediate to advanced musicians, ranging in age from high school to college age. The faculty is drawn from the Department of Music at Southeast Missouri State University and also includes special guest artists. The Institute director is Paul Thompson.
