Chamber Winds to Perform Pre-ASBDA Concert June 27 in Cape Girardeau

The Southeast Missouri State University Chamber Winds has been selected to perform at the American School Band Directors Association (ASBDA) National Convention July 1 in St. Louis.

The Chamber Winds, a new addition to the six bands in the Department of Music, will perform at 7:30 p.m. at the Millennium Hotel.

A Pre-ASBDA Concert will be held at 3 p.m. June 27 in the First Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) at 2411 Abbey Road in Cape Girardeau. The public is invited to attend this free concert by the best instrumentalists at Southeast. 

Both programs will feature performances by a woodwind quintet, and saxophone and horn quartets. The Chamber Winds also will perform Percy Aldridge Grainger’s “The Merry King,” an English folksong from Sussex, England, “OCTOOT (S. 8) for Wind Instruments” by P.D.Q. Bach and Gordon Jacob’s “Old Wine In New Bottles.”
