Southeast Faculty Member Appointed to Board of Editors of Missouri Historical Review

CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo., April 29, 2005ᾰDr. Bonnie Stepenoff, associate professor of history at Southeast Missouri State University, was appointed to the Board of Editors of the Missouri Historical Review in March by Dr. Gary Kremer, director of the State Historical Society.

The board consists of seven members representing colleges and universities from around the state.  The board holds discussions and recommends editorial policies for the Missouri Historical Review, a quarterly journal of scholarship on Missouri history.

Last October, Stepenoff also was elected by the members of the State Historical Society to serve on the Board of Trustees for a one-year term.  Stepenoff was employed by the Society from 1976 to 1984, serving as secretary and acquisitions specialist from 1979 to 1984.

“I have contributed numerous articles to the Missouri Historical Review, and I am pleased to be included in the decision-making process about the Society’s future,” Stepenoff said.

The Society was founded in 1898 by the Missouri Press Association and has been a trustee of the state since 1901.  It consists of 37 trustees who advise the director on policies.  The Society is a preeminent research facility for the study of Missouri’s state heritage.
