Southeast Guitar Ensemble Dec. 4 in Shuck Recital Hall

CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo., Nov. 20, 2007 — The Department of Music will present the Southeast Guitar Ensemble in concert directed by Dr. Jeffrey Noonan at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Dec. 4 in the Robert F. and Gertrude L. Shuck Music Recital Hall on Southeast Missouri State University’s River Campus.

The concert is free and open to the public, and tickets may be purchased in advance or at the door.  The concert features performances by music students majoring in classical guitar at the University and includes works for the full Guitar Ensemble as well as pieces for smaller groups. These smaller works include duos for guitar and flute, several guitar trios, and a contemporary piece for violin, flute and guitar. The full Guitar Ensemble will present works composed for guitar ensemble, like Chris Kilvington’s “Farewell to Inverness,” as well as arrangements of pieces by Maurice Ravel and Isaac Albeniz. Members of the Guitar Ensemble also will present solo pieces throughout the concert, including solos by J. S. Bach and Leo Brouwer, among others.
