Southeast Hosting Regional Science Fair

CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo.,

March 6, 2009 – Southeast Missouri State University is hosting the 53rd annual Southeast Missouri Regional Science Fair Tuesday, March 10, at the Show Me Center. The purpose of the Science Fair is to channel more able young people into the several fields of science and mathematics.

Participants will include 341 students from 28 area schools. A total of 243 projects will be available for public viewing beginning at 3:30 p.m. An awards reception for exhibitors, their families and teachers will begin at 6:30 p.m., followed by an awards program at 7:30 p.m.

The top two senior projects will present their work at the International Science and Engineering Fair to be held in Reno, Nev., in May.

Sponsors of the Southeast Missouri Regional Science Fair are the College of Science and Mathematics and the Linda Godwin Center for Science and Mathematics Education both at Southeast Missouri State University; the Southeast Missourian, Drury Southwest and Drury Inns.  Major support also comes from Ameren UE, Hathaway Consulting, Koehler Engineering & Land Survey, Saint Francis Medical Center, Southeast Missouri Dental Society and Southeast Missouri Hospital.
