CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo., March 30, 2009 – The Department of Music in the Earl and Margie Holland School of Visual and Performing Arts at Southeast Missouri State University will present the Southeast Percussion Ensemble in concert Tuesday, March 31, at 7:30 p.m. at Southeast’s River Campus.
Under the direction of Shane Mizicko, assistant professor of percussion, the ensemble will present its annual spring concert.
This concert will include everything from explosive drum driven works such as “Layers” by Alan Keown and “Ritual Music” by Davis Skidmore to very lyrical and energetic mallet works such as “Stubernic” by Mark Ford and “Chamber Music” by Robert Suderburg. Other exciting and landmark percussion works like William Kraft’s “Suite for Percussion” and Henry Cowell’s “Pulse” will also be featured. “We’re covering an enormous spectrum of percussion repertoire on a single concert, something from each decade starting from the 1930s through 2004. You do not want to miss this concert,” Mizicko said.
