Southeast Public Radio Announces Valentine’s Day Programming

CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo., Feb. 3, 2006 — Southeast Public Radio will offer two special Valentine’s Day programs on Tuesday, Feb. 14.

At 8 p.m., “Love’s Labors” will feature amusing and sweet love stories by Kevin Kling, Nancy Updike, Scott Carrier, the Kitchen Sisters, and host Amy Dickinson. Dickinson is the syndicated advice columnist (“Ask Amy”- Chicago Tribune) and former NPR commentator. The special will include Love songs by the Phi Mu Washboard band, and the Girls Glee Club of New Palestine High School in Indiana.

At 9 p.m., KRCU will air Radio Netherlands’s “Long Distance Love,” two tales of transatlantic romance to warm up your Valentine’s Day. Airing in the first half hour will be “From Brooklyn to Banja Luka” the story of a New Yorker and a Serb who overcame their passionate irritation at each other’s cultural and personal peccadilloes to build a life and a family together. And in the second half hour will be “Mucho Corazon,” the tale of two star-crossed lovers from Holland and Cuba, trying to find a way to be together while their governments work to keep them apart.  KRCU 90.9 FM is an affiliate of both Public Radio International and American Public Media.
