Southeast Senior Among Northwestern Mutual’s Top 100 College Interns

Hunn

CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo., Jan. 30, 2014 – Southeast Missouri State University senior Michael Hunn of Festus, Mo., is among Northwestern Mutual’s top 100 college interns and has been invited to attend its Winter Camp in February at the company’s home office in Milwaukee, Wis.

The top 100 of 3,600 financial representative interns nationwide are invited to attend.

“I had made a goal for last semester that I wanted to be in the top 100 in the country for our company and in the office to be able to go on a special trip to Milwaukee here in February,” said Hunn, a finance major. “I kept a close watch on the leader board throughout the semester to track my progress. I feel it is a huge accomplishment to be able to go and a very humbling experience. As time comes to go on the trip, I am realizing more and more how this is going to impact me in my daily life as well as my future with this company.” He is associated with the Clay Hahs agency of Northwestern Mutual in Cape Girardeau.

“It’s hard to put words on what my experience has been like in all honesty,” Hunn said. “It’s more than just getting coffee or making copies for a veteran rep in the office. I get the opportunity to make phone calls to meet and share with people the work I do and help people achieve financial security, as well as reaching their financial goals.” Winter Camp is a reward to recognize the top 100 college interns for high productively. The home office pays all associated transportation and hotel costs for qualifying interns. Company leaders and former interns will speak about their Northwestern Mutual experience, development, career decision-making process and their current careers.

“I had previously worked in the insurance area and from doing so I knew that is what I wanted to do the rest of my life, so I saw this as a great opportunity to dip my feet in the water and test drive this career and see if it really was for me,” he said.

He hopes to become employed with the company after he graduates in May.

“Through what I’ve done and seen from this company I know this is exactly where God wants me to be and feel there is no greater company to work for, which is why I am grateful for the opportunity to have this internship,” he said.

He is part of a network of specialists that offer a wide array of products and provide expert guidance and innovative solutions for a variety of financial needs and goals. He joined the company in 2013 in the Northwestern Mutual office at 1307 N. Mt. Auburn Rd. in Cape Girardeau.

“I am excited to be able to use my talents of understanding money and how to make it work for you and share it with as many people I can,” Hunn said.
