Southeast Student Artwork Featured in Salon des Refusés

Art GalleryCAPE GIRARDEAU, Missouri, March 24, 2015 — The Southeast Missouri State University River Campus Art Gallery will continue the successful “Salon des Refusés” tradition with its most recent exhibit, featuring a variety of Southeast student artwork.

The exhibit will be on display April 7-16, and a reception is scheduled for April 10 from 5-7 p.m.

The “Salon des Refusés” runs concurrently with the Annual Juried Student Exhibition and features additional work created by Southeast art students. The show will spotlight pieces from fibers, sculpture, drawing, painting, printmaking, ceramics, graphic design, illustration, digital art and photo and video projects.

“While the Crisp Museum will be exhibiting the Annual Juried Student Exhibition, the Gallery will exhibit student works that were not selected by the juror,” said Kristin Powers Nowlin, gallery coordinator. “It is a testament to the strength of our program that this exhibit always proves to be just as compelling as the juried exhibition.”

The River Campus Art Gallery is located on the first floor of the historic Seminary Building in Room 106.

River Campus Art Gallery hours are 1-5 p.m. Monday through Friday and 1-7 p.m. on First Fridays. All gallery exhibitions, events and talks are free and open to the public. For more information, contact Gallery Coordinator Powers Nowlin at rcgallerycoordinator@semo.edu or (573) 651-5901.
