CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo., March 13, 2013 – While many students choose to spend their spring break at home or on a beach, a few Southeast Missouri State University organizations are offering excursions for students seeking plans a little outside the box.

Catholic Campus Ministry and the Baptist Student Center have planned alternative spring break trips for Southeast students. Spring Break at Southeast is March 16-22.

Catholic Campus Ministry is partnering with the Catholic Urban Project for their alternative spring break mission trip. Students will travel to Detroit, Mich., where they will assist residents with home repair projects, food pantry collection and door-to-door prayer ministry. While on the trip, students will have many opportunities for spiritual growth and attend daily Mass.

Cost of the trip is $100, and scholarships are available for those needing financial assistance to take part. For more information, call Kristen Rainey at (573) 335-3899 or email krainey@ccmin.org.

The Baptist Student Center is planning an overnight trip to the Baptist Home in Ironton, Mo. While at the Baptist Home, Southeast students will be engaging in senior adult ministry. Students participating in this trip will depart Tuesday, March 19, and return Wednesday, March 20.
