Southeast Student Receives National Research Paper Award

CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo.,

Dec. 3, 2004 – Southeast Missouri State University junior Molly Wickenhauser was recently honored with the National Outstanding Student Research Paper award at the Tri-State Academy of Legal Studies in Business conference in Indianapolis.

Wickenhauser, a criminal justice major from Godfrey, Ill., presented her paper at the conference on Nov. 5

She wrote the paper, entitled “The Powerful Media and Criminal Trials,” for a Contemporary Legal Studies class. Dr. Mary Johnson, associate professor of business law at Southeast, teaches the class

“I require this kind of research for the class because students underestimate their own abilities,” Johnson said. “I get great pleasure from seeing students meet the high standards that I set for this class, and in Molly’s case, exceed those standards,” she added.

Wickenhauser’s paper also was published in the conference proceedings.
