CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo., Aug. 16, 2011 — The St. Louis Society of Women Certified Public Accountants (SLSWCPA) selected Andrea Metcalf, a senior accounting student at Southeast Missouri State University, as one of two recipients for its 2011 scholarship.
The $1,000 scholarship is awarded to junior, senior and graduate students in the field of accountancy who have demonstrated records of academic excellence and have shown active involvement in outside activities and organizations.
Rachel Meyers, vice president of SLSWCPA, said the candidate pool this year was “strong.”
Metcalf is from Troy, Ill., and is the daughter of Steve and Kim Metcalf. She has been on the Harrison College of Business Dean’s Honors List every semester since 2008, is a student member of Phi Eta Sigma, serves as the recording secretary and fundraising committee chair of Beta Alpha Psi and is the incoming president of the Southeast Mu Xi Chapter of Beta Alpha Psi for the 2011-2012 term. Metcalf has been an active volunteer with Junior Achievement, a student ambassador for the Becker CPA Review and a departmental tutor to introductory accounting course students.
