Southeast Students Awarded Lorberg Medal

CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo.,

Dec. 10, 2008 – Two Southeast Missouri State University students were honored today with the M.G. Lorberg Jr. Medal.

Scott Crean of Belleville, Ill., and Natascha Atwood of Cape Girardeau were honored with the medal.

The Lorberg Medal recognizes students who excel academically as well as in service to the University and the greater community. Upon graduation, Crean plans to take a position with Caterpillar, International, and Atwood has accepted a graduate assistantship at Ball State University’s School of Communication. She will be studying rhetoric and public address.

Communication Studies’ faculty held a ceremony today at noon in the Rose Theatre lobby at Southeast to honor the two students.

Lorberg was a professor at Southeast from 1967 until his death in 1987. He also served as department chair for the Department of Speech Communication and Theatre.
