Southeast Students, Faculty Tell ‘River Tales’

CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo.,

Jan. 21, 2009 – Television and film students and faculty in the Department of Mass Media at Southeast Missouri State University have produced a 30-minute video news magazine series entitled “River Tales” that will air on KFVS-12, WQWQ-TV (CW Network), SETV (KFVS digital weather channel), Charter Cable and local access channels.

“Our opening sequence says it all – ‘River Tales is a program that will introduce you to fascinating people, take you to interesting places and enlighten you on important events that happen in our region,’” said Dr. Jim Dufek, professor of mass media and TV and film operations manager.

The January “River Tales” program is dedicated to the behind-the-scenes trip of Southeast’s Golden Eagles Marching Band and their trip to the Edinburgh International Military Tattoo in Edinburgh, Scotland, Dufek said. The program includes interviews with Dr. Barry Bernhardt, Southeast’s director of bands, Department of Music faculty members Dr. Robert Conger and Dr. Shane Mizicko, Dr. Jane Stephens, provost, and students Jonathon Bernhardt, Erin Young and Katie Young who attended and played in the Tattoo. Upcoming Air Dates for “River Tales”
