CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo., Feb. 16, 2016 – Students at Southeast Missouri State University have a new dining option on campus with today’s opening of Panda Express.
“We are really excited and ready to offer our students and campus a new dining experience,” said Jonathan Tanner, director of student engagement and marketing for Chartwells Dining Services on campus.
The on-campus Panda Express, located in the University Center, has a full menu including Panda Express’ famous orange chicken as well as vegetarian items and “wok smart” entrees with 300 calories or less and at least eight grams of protein. Every entrée item comes with three different portion size options.
Hours of operation are from 11 a.m.-8 p.m. Monday through Friday, and closed on Saturdays and Sundays.
Students are able to use their meal plan, or “Redbucks,” as they do at other retail locations on campus such as Starbucks and Subway. Pricing and portion sizes are the same as those at other Panda Express operations.
The excitement has extended beyond the University because this new Panda Express will be the only one in the Cape Girardeau area, said Tanner.
“We’ve had people from the community contacting us to ask about the new Panda Express almost every day,” he said. “It’s a privilege for us to not only do we get to serve our campus community but the local area as well.”
A grand opening ceremony is scheduled for sometime later in the spring 2016 semester.
To accommodate the Panda Express concept, an expansion of the University Center was undertaken. The 850-square-foot expansion, accommodates a full Panda Express concept, including production, storage and serving space without losing any previous seating or meeting room space in the University Center.
