CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo., Dec. 13, 2006 — The Southeast Missouri State University club racquetball team ended the 2006 season with a national ranking of 20th in Division I according to recent rankings just released from the U.S. Intercollegiate Racquetball National Championships.
The team finished the year with 231 total national points.
“It’s a great honor for the team to finish this well,” said Troy Vaughn, director of Recreation Services. “The team members worked very hard to attain such a national ranking. We are very proud of them.”
The team, led by Junior President Drew Finke of St. Louis, hosted a regional tournament here for the first time in the Student Recreation Center North and participated in the national championships in Arizona last spring. The team is on track to qualify members again for their national championships in 2007 to be held at Arizona State University March 28-31.
Along with Finke, other active members of the Southeast club racquetball team are Steve Grana of St. Louis, Tim Lucas of St. Charles, Mo., Brendan Hanson of Carol Stream, Ill., and Chris Debolt of St. Louis. The team actively practices most Monday through Thursday evenings in the racquetball courts at the Student Recreation Center North.
