Spaces Still Available for Summer Theatre and Dance Academy June 3-14

CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo., May 16, 2013 – There is still time to register for Southeast Missouri State University’s third annual summer Theatre and Dance Academy, an intensive theatre and dance educational experience for students in kindergarten through high school.

The Academy, which offers an array of classes in a fun, professional environment, will be offered in two sessions: June 3-7 and June 10-14. Classes will be held at Southeast’s River Campus and in the Parker Dance Studio on Southeast’s main campus. Southeast faculty members and qualified senior level theatre and dance students will teach the classes, accompanied by a student assistant.

Morning classes to be offered June 3-7 include: “Jazz” for 1st-5th graders and “Acting” for 6th-8th graders. Afternoon classes include: “Jazz” for 6th-12th graders and “Acting” for 1st-5th graders.

Morning classes to be offered June 10-14 include: “Contemporary” for 9th-12th graders, “Musical Theatre” for 6th-8th graders and “Acting” for kindergarten-2nd graders. Afternoon classes include: “Ballet” for kindergarten-2nd graders, “Jazz” for 6th-8th graders, “Musical Theatre” for 3rd-5th graders and “Acting” for 9th-12th graders.

Students at all levels will learn a wide range of techniques to further their interest in the performing arts and increase their appreciation of theatre and dance.

Classes will meet for one week Monday through Friday. Cost for a two-hour a day class for five days is $125 and a three-hour a day class for five days is $150. Theatre and Dance season ticket holders and families with multiple children will receive a 15 percent discount.
