Sport Management Students Explore Careers at Team USA Symposium

Eight Southeast Missouri State University sport management students and two faculty members recently attended the Team USA Symposium at the United States Olympic Training Center (USOC) in Colorado Springs, Colorado.

The event identified and provided valuable experiences for the next generation of leaders in the Olympic and Paralympic movements. The group was able to interact with USOC management while staying onsite at the Olympic Training Center.

Participating in the four-day symposium from Southeast were Darryeon Bishop of St. Louis, Missouri; Allison Conder of Freeburg, Illinois; Kyle Denk of Pacific, Missouri; Morgan Heard of O’Fallon, Missouri; Kyle Kasten of Edwardsville, Illinois; Kindra Lierz of Springfield, Missouri; Daniel Plunkett of Springfield, Illinois; Ben Tomasino of Marshall, Illinois; Dr. Chengming Hu, assistant professor of recreation and park administration and sport management; and Alicia Scott, instructor of sport management.

Conder said the event introduced her to new resources and career options.

“I was able to expand my professional network,” she said. “I also gained a lot of knowledge of an area of the sport industry that I had not previously considered.”
