CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo.,
April 20, 2009 – The Southeast Missouri State University Department of Music’s Ensemble Series will continue on Tuesday, April 28, with a 7:30 p.m. program featuring the University Choir, the chamber choir Cantus Choralis and the premier performance of the student-developed Southeast Show Choir.
“This new ensemble will perform arrangements of popular music complete with choreography,” said Steve Hendricks, director of choral activities/music education at Southeast.
The performance will take place in the Robert F. and Gertrude L. Shuck Music Recital Hall in the Seminary Building located on Southeast’s River Campus.
Selections on this concert include music by Benjamin Britten, Edward Elgar, Jonathan Harvey and a motet by Johannes Brahms. The choirs also will sing arrangements of the gospel hymn, “Jacob’s Ladder,” the American folk song “Cindy” and the “Battle Hymn of the Republic.”
