Spring Enrollment Up After Fourth-Week Census

CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo.,

Feb. 15, 2005 – Southeast Missouri State University released its fourth week census report today, showing total combined undergraduate and graduate student headcount up 4.7 percent from spring 2004.

Today’s report shows combined undergraduate and graduate student headcount at 9,308, up from 8,894 at this time last year.

Total undergraduate headcount stands at 7,822, up .2 percent from spring 2004. Fourth-week admissions reports show beginning freshmen headcount at 179, up 51.7 percent from spring 2004. Freshmen headcount stands at 1,604, up 2.6 percent from this time a year ago. Sophomore headcount is 1,483, down 2.6 percent from spring 2004. Junior headcount is 1,590, down 7 percent from this time last year. Senior headcount is 2,230, up 1.9 percent from spring 2004.

Total graduate student headcount is 1,486, up 37 percent from this time last year. Non-degree unclassified graduate student headcount is 692, up 116.9 percent from spring 2004. Degree-seeking master’s degree student headcount is 662, down 1.2 percent from this time last year. Specialists headcount is 122, up 41.9 percent from spring 2004. Doctoral headcount in the Southeast/University of Missouri Cooperative Doctoral Program is 10, the exact same figure from this time a year ago.
