Spring Enrollment Up After Fourth-Week Census

Southeast Missouri State University released its fourth week census report today, showing combined undergraduate and graduate student headcount up .2 percent from spring 2006.

Feb. 15, 2007 – Southeast Missouri State University released its fourth week census report today, showing combined undergraduate and graduate student headcount up .2 percent from spring 2006.

Today’s report shows combined undergraduate and graduate student headcount at 9,758, up from 9,743 at this time last year. Total combined enrollment grew from the 7,965 figure that was reported after the first full day of spring 2007 semester classes Jan. 16.

Total undergraduate headcounts stands at 8,440, up .8 percent from spring 2006. Fourth-week admission reports show beginning freshmen headcount at 120, down from 156 this time last year. Continuing freshmen headcount stands at 1,621, down 9.1 percent from spring 2006, reflecting the drop of 9.6 percent in the number of freshmen who enrolled for the fall semester of 2006 compared to fall 2005. Sophomore headcount stands at 1,707, up 5.2 percent from this time last year. Junior headcount stands at 1,721, up 3.4 percent from spring 2006. Senior headcount stands at 2,372, up 2.3 percent from this time last year.

Total graduate student headcount is 1,318, down 3.9 percent from spring 2006. Non-degree seeking unclassified graduate student headcount is 523, down 4.6 percent from this time last year. Degree-seeking master’s degree student headcount is 693, up one percent from spring 2006. Specialists headcount is 91, down from 122 at this time last year. Doctoral headcount is 11, down from 16 in spring 2006.
