Stan and Debbie Crader Endowed Scholarship in History Established

History-Steve HoffmanCAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo., March 19, 2014 – The Stan and Debbie Crader Endowed Scholarship in History has been established through the Southeast Missouri University Foundation.

Stan and Debbie Crader of Jackson, Mo., made a gift from their Southeast Missouri State University Donor Advised fund to establish the scholarship. The gift will be matched through a University matching gift program.

The matching gift program is part of the Honoring Tradition – Inspiring Success Comprehensive Campaign through the Southeast Missouri University Foundation. This program allowed donors to make a minimum commitment of $5,000 to a maximum commitment of $10,000 through donation or pledge by March 1, 2014, that qualified for a $1-for-$1 match. The goal of the Campaign is to raise $40 million for students both today and tomorrow.

The renewable Stan and Debbie Crader Endowed Scholarship in History will be awarded to a Southeast student with interest in working with activities related to the Crader Fund for American Values during the fall semester as demonstrated through an essay submitted with the application. The student must also be majoring, minoring or enrolled in the graduate program in the Department of History and have a minimum 2.0 grade point average. Recipients will be assigned projects related to public outreach by the Crader Fund for American Values. The Department of History Scholarship Committee will select the recipient. This summer award will be contingent upon satisfactory progress toward completion of a public outreach project.

The Craders have had a long-standing involvement with the University and have a passion for helping people help themselves and encouraging others to do the same. Both work with the Department of History, bringing in speakers to address current issues. Stan Crader has served as Chairman of the Southeast Missouri University Foundation Board of Directors and Co-Chairman of the Honoring Tradition – Inspiring Success comprehensive campaign. They are the parents to three sons, two of whom are Southeast graduates.
