Student Artwork to be Displayed in ‘Salon des Refusés’ Tradition

2013_VP_ArtCAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo., March 17, 2014 – The Southeast Missouri State University River Campus Art Gallery will follow the grand “Salon des Refuses” tradition in its newest exhibit, featuring a wide variety of Southeast students’ artwork.

The exhibit will be on display March 31-April 11, and a reception is scheduled for April 4 from 5-7 p.m.

The “Salon des Refuses” will spotlight pieces from fibers, sculpture, drawing, painting, printmaking, ceramics, graphic design, illustration, digital art and photo and video projects.

“In keeping with a long tradition in art, this is a special exhibit that shows just how strong our art program is, because we can have an incredible show, even with work that was ‘refused’ from the Annual Juried Student Exhibition that will run concurrently in the Crisp Museum,” says Kristin Powers Nowlin, Gallery coordinator.

The River Campus Art Gallery is located on the first floor of the historic Seminary Building in Room 106.

River Campus Art Gallery hours are 1-5 p.m. Monday through Friday and 1-7 p.m. on First Fridays. All gallery exhibitions, events and talks are free and open to the public. For more information, contact Gallery Coordinator Kristin Powers Nowlin at kpnowlin@semo.edu or (573) 651-5901.
