Students Communicate Notable Quotes Through Artwork

EmmertCAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo., Oct. 21, 2015 – Regional student artists will communicate famous quotes through artistic works in the “Notable Quotable Exhibition” on display beginning Nov. 2 in the River Campus Art Gallery of Southeast Missouri State University.

A reception is scheduled for 5-7 p.m. Nov. 6 in the gallery.

This juried exhibition brings together work by graphic design and illustration students from across the region. It is organized by the Southeast American Institute of Graphic Arts (AIGA) student group. The AIGA connects design students at Southeast to professional designers, encouraging and engaging students in the process of design.

“This will be the River Campus Art Gallery’s third installment of the ‘Notable Quotable Exhibition,’ a design-based show which utilizes type as art,” said Justin Miller, Gallery coordinator. “This juried exhibition will be open to students attending universities in Missouri and the bordering states of Missouri. The juror this year is Kate Schaefer, who is a senior designer for Concord/Rustmedia and an alumna of Southeast Missouri State University.”

The River Campus Art Gallery is located on the first floor of the historic Seminary Building in Room 106. River Campus Art Gallery hours are 1-5 p.m. Monday through Friday and 1-7 p.m. on First Fridays. All gallery exhibitions, events and talks are free and open to the public.
