CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo.,
Sept. 24, 2003 – The first in the series of a new “Sundays at Three” concert series, a professional chamber music concert, will be performed at 3 p.m. this Sunday, Sept. 28, in Old St. Vincent’s Church in downtown Cape Girardeau.
Brandon Christensen, instructor of violin at Southeast Missouri State University, has announced the inaugural season of the series, which will include four concerts of string chamber music.
The first performance will feature Jeffrey Noonan, Southeast guitar instructor, as well as members of “Early Music St. Louis.” They will present a program of English music from the 17th century, featuring songs and dances composed or arranged by important figures like William Byrd, Thomas Morley, and John Dowland, including his Lachrimae Pavan.
Performers will play on period instruments and authentic reproductions. Featured will be bowed strings, the harpsichord and plucked instruments. Performers include William Bauer on baroque violin and viola d’more; Nancy Bristol, voice; Jeffrey Noonan on lute, baroque guitar and theorbo; and Neal Richardson on harpsichord.
