Telephone Service to Campus Restored

Rodger Chisman, director of Telecommunication Services at Southeast, said telephone service to the entire campus has been restored as of mid-morning on Friday, April 13. Thanks to the efforts of University staff members in Telecommunications, Facilities Management and the Department of Public Safety, along with outside vendors, the University’s telephone switch room in Serena Hall is, once again, operational, Chisman said. Southeast officials determined earlier this week that electronic equipment in three of four cabinets housing the University’s telephone switching equipment, was destroyed. The damage occurred after a water line break was discovered early Wednesday morning on the first floor of Serena Hall that flooded the telecommunications switch room below this area.
