CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo., Aug. 6, 2012 – The Department of Theatre and Dance at Southeast Missouri State University will hold an open house Aug. 20 for theatre and dance students to meet faculty and staff.
The event is scheduled for 6 p.m. in the Wendy Kurka Rust Flexible Theatre at Southeast’s River Campus.
This will be an opportunity for theatre and dance students and faculty to meet and greet one another while enjoying refreshments. Students will learn about the year’s upcoming events and auditions. The event is open to all students majoring or minoring in theatre and dance as well as those interested in theatre and dance.
“The Theatre & Dance Open House on Aug 20 is a chance for new and returning students to mingle and get ready for a new year of study and performing,” said Dr. Phil Nacy, chair of the Department of Theatre and Dance. “It’s a laid-back Department-wide ‘welcome’ for the students and faculty. Department news and announcements will be made about upcoming auditions and special events, masterclasses and production information. It’s a chance for the new theatre and dance students to meet the faculty and upper-class students, and for returning students to get reacquainted after a summer of off-campus performing and production work.”
During the open house, new theatre and dance students will be paired with mentors, and new students will learn about the auditioning process for Southeast productions.
The open house is sponsored by the Department of Theatre and Dance in conjunction with the Office of Student Transitions.
